As a dedicated national partner of the We Honor Veterans program, Companion is proud to serve those who have served us and our country and we believe it’s never too late to give our vets a hero’s welcome home.

Companion is proud to have achieved the We Honor Veterans partner level 4 status, the highest recognition for this program. Our staff deeply understands the unique issues veterans and their families face. From regularly educating our team about caring for veterans to coordinating care with the Department of Veterans Affairs, we focus on respectful inquiry, compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgement of a veteran’s service and sacrafice.

Companion also participates in the Veteran-to-Veteran volunteer program, which pairs veteran volunteers with hospice patients who are veterans. When veterans interact, their common language and experience can form a strong relational bond. The camaraderie created between veterans has been proven to be supportive for all involved.

We are always looking for hospice volunteers to give support, companionship, hope and joy to patients and families. Volunteers work alongside our professional staff to enhance the care of our patients and their family members.
